COA Regional Office VI is in one with the celebration of the Commission on Audit’s 122nd Founding Anniversary. Amidst the global challenges that the world faces, the Commission continues to aim for excellence in delivering quality audit service with this year’s theme “Resilience and Innovation in the New Normal”.

A week-long celebration commenced on Monday, May 3, 2018, with a holy mass held at the COA Regional Office VI Auditorium and broadcasted online for those who were not able to join the celebrations in person due to COVID-19 restrictions. This was thereafter followed by a virtual conference presided by Regional Director, Director Merne T. Peňaranda, with Assistant Regional Director, Director Daisylyn Tavarro, and other top officials of the Regional Office.

With the purpose of protecting its vulnerable employees and taking their safety into primary priority, the Regional Office organized a pneumococcal vaccination. Fourteen Senior Citizen employees signed up and were vaccinated on Wednesday, May 5.

Promotional examinations for State Auditor I to State Auditor IV positions were held the following day, May 6.

Concluding the week-long event, various provincial satellite offices all throughout the region held their respective culminating activities on Friday, May 7. The COA Provinces of Aklan, Antique, Iloilo – North and South, Guimaras and Iloilo City, along with the NGS, CGS, and SUCs, expressed their gratitude in a collection of short video clips presented at the Regional Office during the closing ceremony whilst they spent time with thei r respective groups, getting a short breather from their hectic schedules. COA Province of Capiz got in touch with nature as they conducted a tree planting activity and the COA Water Districts and Other CGS Stand Alone Agencies expressed their gratefulness by sharing their blessings to those in need.

The COA Regional Office as well culminated the event with a closing program headed by Director Merne T. Penaranda with “fundemic” games and Zumba contest but still observing health protocols. The program held was in the expression of gratitude and appreciation for how the Commission has always taken care of its employees especially in these trying times.

In line with the celebration, the Region honored and gave thanks to its retirees for all their efforts and for having become part of the Commission on Audit family.

The Commission on Audit Regional Office VI gave recognition to the COA PRAISE Awardees, Diorelyn Menez, State Auditor III and Geraldine F. Hibaler, State Auditor II, for their exemplary service as Audit Team with Outstanding Audit Report.

In its ultimate expression of gratitude, COA Region 6 shared the blessings it received to the hardworking security guards who unceasingly ensure the safety of the office and its employees for, in the words of Sir Winston S. Churchill, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

Resilience is indeed in the bloodline of every Filipino. Facing the challenges that the “new normal” has brought due to the unexpected pandemic, the Commission on Audit has been and will continue to find means to adapt and make its way through innovations that will maintain excellent services to its partners.
